You must be kidding. One of the many sights of Singapore is the literally hundreds of bikes on the streets. It is one of the major forms of transportation there.

In Singapore is the resort Rasa Sentosa any good?

Princess.A

I'm going to Singapore in September for 2 weeks with my family and staying at the Shangri-La's Rasa Sentosa. What does the resort have to offer for families? Anything i should know about it?

Answer
The resort itself is very nice, as you would expect from a luxury hotel. There are beaches in Sentosa which you can bring your family/ kids. I wouldn't suggest swimming in the sea because at this moment there are over 700 ships parked around Singapore because of the economic slump. You could rent a bike and cycle around Sentosa, or visit the few attractions on the island like the downhill luge ride, and the popular Underwater World, but there really is not much to do there. One day is enough. You can probably do a lot of tanning and relaxing, and it gets rather quiet at night. There is a nice cafe/ bar called Cafe Del Mar in Sentosa where you can have slightly overpriced drinks.

To get back to the mainland you will need to take a bus or you can take the monorail. You will end up at a huge shopping center called Vivo City which you buy lots of things. Then from there you can either take a cab or take the subway to the main shopping area in Singapore called Orchard Road. Where you will find many more huge shopping centers. You're probably going to want to bring your kids to the Zoo and Night Safari, and maybe the Jurong Bird Park. Other possible places of interest include the National Museum, the Science Centre (kid friendly), and the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve for some nature walks.

Don't even try spending your whole 2 weeks in Sentosa. You'll go crazy.
