Job for 16 years old?

Jenny Le

I am pretty short & small looking sometime others would mistaken me for a little kid, but i wanna find a job. Any ideas where i can work at?

Answer
Why not consider picking up dog droppings as a part of your own business? You can earn upwards of $20 an hour, and all you need are a few tools a bicycle, and perhaps a bicycle trailer. This article talks about it and how a woman in Colorado quit her management job to do it.

Is a 16' bicycle big enough for a 4 year old?

Wendy S

I need to know how big of a bicycle a 4 year old needs. There was a 12' and a 16' for kids. they have training wheels. I didnt get the 12 because i dont want him to outgrow it that fast. he is almost 40 inches tall. It was in a box so i cant tell if its too big or not.

Answer
His age or his height really have nothing to do with the correct bicycle size. It is based on inseam. Take him to a store where he can sit on the bikes to get an accurate measurement. Wal-Mart and Toys-R-Us both keep several bikes on display. 16" is probably a good starting point. He should be able to sit on the bike's seat with both feet touching the floor, if not the bike is too high.

P.S. To the first guest...lighten up...she wasn't sure how to get the right size so she posted here, isn't that what this site is here for?

Parents of kids/teens that ride bicycles: Helmets?

.

If you and your kids/teens ride bicycles, do you wear helmets? Do your kids/teens wear helmets? Do you not care if they wear a helmet or not?

Thanks! I'm 16, and I would wear a helmet no matter what, but my friends don't because they say it looks ugly, but a girl who was 15 recently died from just riding casually on her neighborhood street (no cars) fell down without a helmet on and died from internal bleeding.

Answer
I always wear a helmet and make my kids wear helmets. In my state kids under sixteen legally have to wear helmets or the parent can get cited. It may be unfashionable safety is more important.

What axle size do kids 16 inch bicycle rims have?

Richard

need to know the right size :p

Answer
Most of the axles are 3/8" or 10mm. The threads vary with the imperial sized axles.

If you are making an attempt to install longer axles on a bike to install training wheels or anything else, DON'T. The large majority of 16" wheeled bikes have frames that simply won't take the stress... which is why the axles are short. If the bike already has training wheels then you can be sure the bike was designed with the extra stress in mind.

How can I convince my parents to let me ride a Motorbike (NInja 250R)?

Hiya. I'm 15 (going to be 16 in about 5 months) and I really want to get a Sportbike. I'm not going to be doing wheelies flying down the road and zigzagging at 150 mph, I just want to be able to get to school and back and go over to some friends houses without having to ride a regular bike there. The one I'm looking at is a Kawasaki Ninja 250R, I figured I really don't need a 600 (that much speed and everything) so I thought that would be a good starter bike of sorts.

However, my parents are really stubborn about it. They kinda do the same thing with everything and figure "Oh man, I once heard someone died on a motorcycle" so they are convinced it's dangerous. And yeah, I know they are. But I live in a really small town, there isn't much traffic and it takes 10 minutes or so to get my to school (depending on the roads, etc.). Again, I wouldn't be speeding or anything, and I would wear a Helmet and Jacket so I don't see how the risk is that large. They won't do any research into it, the bike, motorcycling in general, or otherwise.

I'm looking for something to tell them to help convince them to let me go through with this, I told them I would take the Motorcycle course to learn how to ride, and pay for any gas for it out of my own pocket, but they didn't even bother thinking for more than a second before saying "No."

Thanks to all who reply. :)

Answer
You *CANNOT* convince your parents to allow you a sport bike. Sport bikes are know to cause good kids go bad. They know that you cannot ride a sport bike slowly. OKay? Understand? It is NOT HAPPENING.

Now, do you want to ride? Do you want *anything* similar to a motorcycle that the parents might accept? What do you need, instead of want?

You write: " I just want to be able to get to school and back and go over to some friends houses without having to ride a regular bike there. " Bottom -- easier than a pedal bike. Symba -- the Honda Super Cub that your parents' parents rode. http://alliancepowersports.com/models/Symba.html You can tell your parents that Symba is *no different* than riding a pedal bicycle, just as safe a pedal bike, but easier.

Should I get a car or bicycle as a teenager?

That_Bum

I'm 16 right now and i need a better from of transportation. I only get rides in the morning to go to school and come back home, but whenever i need to go to the store to get some supplies or go to a friend's house to do a project my parents are busy working. I will also be getting a job this summer. So I ask you internet people what is better for a kid my age, a bike or car. I know that insurance and gas is gonna suck but at least it will be there whenever i need it.

Answer
Gonna pick up ur prom date on that shinny new bike? Go with a car it will work better for you

I am 16 and i want a creative Halloween costume but i also want to look good when going to parties but i don't want to be slutty. Please help me come up with ideas. I could be pippi longstocking, but its not my first choice. I want a unique costume that will make me stand out too. Thanks!! :)

Answer
well it's not exactly cute but it is unique. one year i went as a speed bump :) i dyed white sweat pants and sweat shirt yellow and spray painted the tires on my parents car and had them drive over different places on the sweats and did the same with a bicycle. it was really interesting and everyone thougt it was hillarious.
i also went as a school girl one year but it was a play on words. i just wore things from a lot of different schools. like a tshirt from one school, shorts or sweats from another, a baseball hat, maybe a backpack or a jacket or something from another, whatever you can find actually. and universities are usually easier than high schools because they tend to have more clothing and accessory options.
or you could try to do something cute from everyone's childhood like a character from a tv show. something like strawberry shortcake would be easy since she just wears jeans and a striped shirt and you can usually find her hat in the kid aisle of party supply stores like party city. or do something current like dora the explorer, or get some friends and go as the backyardigans.

How long it takes to learn bicycle if practiced for 1 hour a day?

Boka Baxo

I'm 16 and still can't ride bicycle. I wanna learn it ride now. If I practice for at least 1 hour for a day, how long it will take to make me learn riding bicycle? I know that different people take different time to learn it. But, what will be the time from a general aspect?
please give your opinion about how long it can possibly take...

Answer
well i bought my kid a bike from http://www.2wheelbikes.com and he learned to ride it within the first 2 minutes. Its really all about confidence. Once you go dont stop, and once you start to lose momentum, be ready to put one foot done to balance. once you start going its simple. Youll be like wow, i cant believe it was so easy. So my opinion is no more than 2 minutes.
