On 7/28/2012 my husband was hit by a car that was pulling out of a neighborhood on to a busy street. My husband was riding his bike down the sidewalk and was hit by this driver. The driver who hit my husband insisted on my husband coming back to his house so that he could clean up his injury's and then he would take my husbands bike to a bike repair shop and get it all fixed up for him and give my husband a ride to work. The man then proceeded to put my husbands bike in the trunk of his car against my husbands wishes. My husband than called the police they arrived on seen. My husband called me at school I left school to go be with my husband. Told me he had been hit by a car. When I arrived he was standing there talking to police. The driver who hit my husband the went to remove my husbands bike from the trunk of his car. I then went to open the back of my jeep to put in my husbands bike I move my school equipment from the from seat to the back of the jeep. When I did this the man was very rude and mean! He than went and very forcefully grabbed my bag and was very rough with it Keep in mind I go to cosmetology school to i have all my expensive equipment in there. I started getting mad at this point and told him he needs to be care-full that I have very expensive equipment in there. He than proceed to try to shove my husbands bike in the back of my jeep I have two car seats in my jeep so you kind of gently have to maneuver it in. but he was trying to shove it in. and in his frustration he started to tell me that he is not at fault it is my husbands fault that he hit my husband that he saw my husband coming down the hill on the side walk at 50 mph (also keep in my husband has a mountain bike not a street bike) He said he did yield to my husband and it was my husbands fault that he hit him. at this point a am getting really fired up! I start to tell him if you saw my husband and yielded to him you would not have hit him! A police officer than came over because he saw us arguing and I asked the officer if he could help me put my husbands bike in to the back of me jeep. when we got the bike into my jeep the man than came over to tell me he will pay for any medical bill there are. The officer than advised me to take my husband to the hospital because my husband denied medical transport because he did not have and life threatening injury's. I than took him to the hospital after being there for about 4 hours or so and x-rays he has a hematoma on his right fore arm and an abrasion on each limb and a compression deformity vertebrae pushed basically what that is is one of his disks on his vertebrae has been pushed down and out of alignment. He now has to go see a back doctor because of it. After we left the hospital we took written statements in to the police station.

I am in the process of looking for a lawyer we are planning on talking to a lawyer and possibly suing this guy. He damaged my husbands bike my husband is now unable to get to work because his bike is damaged my husband could walk if he was in good condition to walk be that is not an option because of his injury's it is a 2 hour walk from our house to his work and I will not allow that he could take the bus be we do not have money to pay the fair. So I will be driving him to work for awhile. I how ever am not able to do this everyday as I have school and two kids I have to take to the babysitters. To get where I need to be on time everyday also.

I need help in finding a lawyer so I can get this all started! I am not going to let him get off this easy there needs to be consequences for his actions.

If you know of any good lawyers that will put there cost in our claim so that guy will have to pay our lawyer fee's and court costs?
To the second response I dont think I hit the jackpot as you put it the only thing I am worryed about is getting my husband medical bills paid and getting his bike fixed and and future medical bills there will be for the future because he know has to see a back specailist there is no way we can afford to pay out of our own pocket any medical bill let alone pay a back specalist. That is the only thing I am worryed about!
And also I have read the law for cyclists and I do not see where it says it is the law that he has to ride his bike in the street!
After reading all of these I am getting really MAD none of these have been any help!! No where in colorado law does it say you have to ride in the street if you are on a bike only if a bike lane is provided are you to ride in the street!
AND second the GUY HIT my husband head on! He hit my husband so hard and dragged him along the road that he ripped his license plate off of his car. So how is that my husbands fault?!
Sorry I thought I put it in here I am from Co
I am hearing alot that it is illegal to ride a bike on the side walk but I just read the entire colorado cyclist law for colorado and no where does it saw it is illegal for a cyclist to ride on the sidewalk

A person riding or walking a bicycle upon and along a sidewalk or pathway or across a roadway upon and along a crosswalk shall have all the rights and duties applicable to a pedestrian under the same circumstances, including, but not limited to, the rights and duties granted and required by section 42-4-802.

http://bicyclecolo.org/articles/colorado-statute-42-4-1412-pg45.htm
How abour you read the law before you point the finger at my husband!

Answer
You file a claim with the mans insurance company. You will get medical bills paid. You will get lost work wages due to the injury but nothing because he now has trouble getting to work. You will get the bike repaired. Maybe some for pain and suffering. Did the police find the car driver at fault and ticket him? If not then you will have a fight on your hand as they can say your husband contributed to the accident. Common knowledge that bikers follow the rules of the road just like a car driver.

Am I going crazy? I believe so.?

Alright, well I have terrible anxiety.. And it drives me nuts! I get it everyday, yet again I have only Twelve years of age. This anxiety, It put extremely big Rashes on my chest. I have been put in the Emergancy Room for anxiety. I have had to get a Lumbar-Puncture.
I also have severe depression, I am on No Meds. This depression has been here for years, I have cut myself since I was Ten.
That leaves over 750 scars on my right arm, And that has led to bullying. Being called "Emo" and such. When I was Eleven, I was sexually abused having to do things I never wanted to do. That has led drastic effect on me. I have almost killed myself around Four times, because of being bulliled. Since those boys did those things, I have been called "Slut" "Whore" "Skank"...
Despite the fact that I am adopted, my mother was Six-Teen years old when she had me.
So of course kids LOVE to pick on me saying.. I'm the daughter of a "Whore" "Slut" "Skank".. These words had killed my emotional concept of bonding with other humans.
I have the fear of getting attached, because everyone betrays me, they leave me. It feels like they love to hurt me.
I've lost my ability to cry. And that is so hard to deal with, I mean we all want to cry at some points and just never stop. Am I right?
Well ya' know I can't even start.
And You don't know how badly I want to.
When I look in the mirror I see imperfection, I lift up my shirt.. And think not enough ribs are showing, I need to lose weight.. So then I don't eat for a few weeks. But it's hard, I'm a athlete.
I've broken my self esteem.
Somedays I just sleep all day, and never do anything.
I have no friends what so ever.
My bestfriend died, on July 3rd 2012.
And to this day I don't believe he's dead.
I still think he's out somewhere riding his mountain bike.
I've been to therapy, but I couldn't handle the big ball of happy.
I've been off and on drugs, and alcohol.
It made me feel so much better.
I'm trying to quit, and get my life back,
Help..

Answer
Hello! You are going through a lot right now. You are so young to be going through this. I'm sorry but hope I can help. I'm not a doctor but believe you do need help with some meds. I believe you need counseling also. But again i'm not a doctor. I was severly sexually abused for years and I am in therapy and take meds. Also I have anxiety. I try to deal with this by calming myself down by thinking of peaceful things. I try to stay positive in everything I do and say. This helps because negativity makes things worse. It is a shame that the other kids pick on you and bully you. Could you not say something to the school counselor and go to her or him for a little help. I feel you have some depression also. because you are so blue over your whole life. I'm sorry that you self harm. I don't understand that but know that it makes you feel, so thats why you do it. I think you need to check out different therapist not all are a like. I would go in and tell them you are not a big ball of happiness that you are a mess, that you are depressed and have anxiety, and low self esteem. That you are bullied at school and have been abused. This is nothing to be happy go lucky about. It is serious and you need to find a way to get through it. I hope you can stay off alcohol, it will make things worse not better I know because I tried to self medicate with alcohol myself and all it got me was drunk and in trouble, lol I hope u can find yourself some help. Seek medical attention before you are so bad you have to go into the hospital. Good luck I wish you the best young one. Blessings!

I want your opinion for what kind of bike is better to buy in city . Thanks

Answer
So where are these off-road trails in the city? What is it about mountain bikes? Does everyone think they look cool or something putting around on paved streets at 10 to 12 mph?

Buy a bike intended for "where & how" you will be riding. See link...
http://www.rei.com/learn/expert-advice/bicycle.html

For paved surfaces in the city, the two best choices would be a hybrid or a road bike.

To whom it may concern
Hey I am Trey writing to you from Loveland, Colorado my letter talks about me and mountain biking. I am hoping to get a good experience from this. My 2005 Raleigh Ram 1.0 is a great bike for what it has been through. When I bought it in August about four months ago the seller said all original parts. I have had to get many repairs. One thing that is not so easy to get fixed is suspension. I currently have an A-pro tough shock in rear and SR Suntour SR XCP75 100mm which is total crap now. Itâs bouncy in the back and stiff in the front. This makes my bike harder to control. It is also pretty heavy which makes up hilling very hard with the travel choices bouncy good for climbing and loose for descending no time for adjustments while riding so I have it bouncy. I usually ride 15 miles. I also have tendinitis in my knees in which the knee tendon gave out due to overuse. My knee can take long rides with not too much pain, but I donât want my tendinitis getting bad leading to it to arthritis and the possibility of surgery . I am only 14 are you kidding me!? As long as my knee is still capable I am still going to ride as long as I can, whenever I can.
I want to give a shout put to my bro (well best friend) Dillon. Every day and I mean it we ride around the neighborhood looking for things to ride on but not a lot in winter, also talk about our dream bikes, road trips, brag about what we read or saw of MTB/DH, and we even got a pretty rad plan for how we are going to make our attempt to get sponsored. Also, show everyday people if they can get off their lazy asses and go experience whatâs in their âback yardâ thereâs more to life than playing inside and something that will be a great You donât even need to ride just hike, camp, fish, or watch me ride at my competition anything works in the end I will be the one living life to its greatest potential. Number one on my bucket list is go to Utah and hopefully see the Redbull rampage sight.
So now that you know a little of what I am about. 32 FLOAT 120mm Factory 26â wheel. Forget about the rear. If there is any possible way I get that I just will be overwhelmed and just do my best ride the technical trails in Colorado and Wyoming, and make every ride the best learning experience. Over thanksgiving break I rode 66 miles. I am planning to ride about 45+miles a week this Spring, Summer, and Fall. Love your work keep it up.
Thank you for taking time to read my letter; if there is any advice or ideas for me I would love to hear it just email me. Please reply and I hope you had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Sincerely,

Trey Hannam

Answer
Sorry, but I don't know from the letter who you are writing to or the purpose of the letter.

Some hints:
- e-mail is NOT a letter
- Use paragraphs
- make it clear who you are writing to
- have a brief intro that specifically says why you are writing
- Focus on providing relevant background and briefly and clearly describe the issue/problem
- Make whatever request you are making very clear
- Be polite
- Make sure your contact info is clear

Good luck

Schwinn Meridian Trike?

best kids mountain bike 2012 on 18

Anyone have any feeling on this? Overall basic reviews are pretty solid everywhere I have looked but I'm a real bicycle novice. I am also very overweight and I would like to ride bikes with my kids plus I really miss riding bikes! Thanks in advance, here's a link to view it...
http://m.sears.com/productdetails.do?partNumber=00611132000P&sid=&psid=

Answer
I think it depends on your reasons for choosing a trike.....and on just how much "very" overweight you are & your level of fitness. That Schwinn is one of the cheaper versions of adult trikes...not horrible, though. They're all quite heavy and weigh in the 50lb range give or take, even the better quality ones, and of course they're as heavy as a tank when compared to normal 2-wheeled bikes. But, despite their weight it doesn't matter quite as much until you put steeper hills into the equation (harder pedaling and they take longer to come to a stop). I think they can be a lot of fun, and there are also a lot of good reasons for some people to choose a trike over a bike.

If you're not like super overweight and you can walk around the block n such, then this one might be ok. I'd recommend one with at least three gears, though, and of course better quality ones will be nicer overall...and a bit more expensive. If you weigh more than 225lbs or so, then you need to choose more carefully and look for the mfr's max weight rating. Some max out around that level but there are plenty that will handle 300 or as much as 500 pounds total weight. They also come in different wheel sizes and frame heights if stepping up is difficult.

Torker makes a nice multi-speed that uses an internal gearing hub instead of the cheaper and maintenance-required freewheels/derailleur....pricier but much better: http://www.torkerusa.com/bikes/utility/2012-tristar

Workman Cycles and Sun also make some good models, and this site has some others: http://www.tririder.com/

Kent bikes are sold at Target, Amazon, and a few other outlets, and they're about the same as Schwinn, maybe a touch nicer for some models, and in the same price range. If you think you'll want a nicer trike or might ride it a lot/keep it around for a long time, I'd spend a bit more if you can.

Also, if you aren't worried about keeping your balance or whatever other reasons a trike makes a good choice for some people, I can tell you that most normal hardtail mountain bikes will hold people up to about 250-275 pounds with just a part swap or two. I had a good friend who was a touch over 300 pounds who rides some expensive lightweight bikes (mountain, road, and downhill), and he's never really had any issues other than using a decent wheel and stout seatpost...he also weighs about 210 these days, thanks to riding his bike!

Get out there and be a kid with your kids. :)

Which is the best bike?

Fresh Pisu

So my child really wants a bigger bike. He is growing out of it and everytime he pedals, he hits the handle which turns into a bruise.

It's nearly his birthday now so it's going to be a good fit. He currently has a BMX bike. We go for a family cycle everyday. The track is mostly paved but there are bumps and gravel as well (hardly but I guess that counts). He is pretty flexible so a little bend on the back is okay. We go cycling for about 45 minutes but I'm not sure if that's considered a high or low distance. Speed is not a factor but he wants a speedy one I guess. But a fast one will be great. A gear will also be great since we go up a slightly steep pavement.

We have been looking online for Bikes on sale and found Mountain, Road, Hybrid and more for kids. We have been making targets for a few. We have considered the price and since it's his birthday, I won't care how pricy it is. There are also a few more bikes which I can't name in English.

We live in Thailand and cycling is very popular here and most bikes are good in deal. So we are likely getting a Hybrid. Fast, light, paved and non- paved surfaces, comfy position, long distances.

Also, it would be great if you can help me recognise these bikes.

What type are the first three?

http://la-bicycle.com/2012/131.html

Thanks!

Answer
First - read what's on this link - "How to Choose a Bicycle" - http://www.rei.com/learn/expert-advice/bicycle.html

Next - see your independent, authorized, knowledgeable, friendly, local bicycle shop(s). Have your son extensively test ride a few. The one that rides & feels the "best" to him - buy it.

There is no "best" bike for everyone. "Best" is in the eye (and the ride) of the beholder. The one that would be the "worst" is one of those cheap full suspension bikes. Stay away!

I'm pregnant and want to keep it but my boyfriend wants me to get an abortion. What do I do?

Q. Im 17 years old and I'll be 8 weeks pregnant on July 1st(I'm due February 10th 2012).. and my boyfriends 20 years old... I don't want to lose him but I don't want to lose the baby ive already created a little bond, and i don't believe in abortions... Hes never had a real job he just does mountain biking videos for friends and gets paid for it, but has no steady income.. I work about 20-30 hours at a clothing store and plan to finish high school online this summer, and go to hair school in september.. He says if I keep the baby that hes going to leave me and his child and doesn't want to look back, and if he comes around its cause he feels like he has to not because he wants to... I'm scared to have a kid at such a young age and being a single mother (I'm not sure how I'd be financially) but I know I could do it and that I'd be a great mother (I've always had that motherly instinct(I played with dolls till I was 13.. LOVED THEM!!)).. Any help or advice is much appreciated!! Thanks for reading this and responding!!

aww :] little baby :] im 17 weeks pregnant today. im 16 my boyfriend is 20. luckly we both wanted to keep it :]. and its a sad situation you in :[ im with you abortion is not something i would personally do. but i am pro choice if a women wants it they have the right. its your body your little baby your carrying so its your decision. but he has a decision to. he can leave. but if you dont think you can afford a baby there is the option of adoption (i wouldnt personally do it) there is open adoption, semi-open adoption, and closed adoption. and there are support groups. im in wic (helps you out with the baby). my boyfriend is on social security. so we have a bit of money coming in. a baby is the greatest gift (in my opinion) and it is normal to be scared, im terrifide but its an exciting thing:] so its worth it. hopefully your mother is supportive because she will be your best-friend. dont let him control your life. its not fair. it would be like having a bond with your new puppy and him taking it away and killing it. it would be sad. and the emotional scar after an abortion is horrible. it can also damage your chances of getting pregnant in the future. and sorry to say but chances are if he is threating to leave now, he probably wont stay.

which is more important baby or a boy?
